Membership
How Do I Become a Member?
The easiest way to join is to click the button above and fill out a membership form online. On the line that asks for "Local/Chapter," write "Billings Education Association."
Once you have filled in all required fields, a button will appear at the bottom of the screen that says "Click to Sign." The form will be submitted to MFPE, who will then route your membership to the BEA Office.
If you prefer a paper form, call our BEA office at 248-9812 or e-mail office@beabillings.org. The office can answer any questions you might have and send you a hard copy of the membership form.
BEA membership is available to all School District 2 employees whose work positions are included in our bargaining unit.
BEA membership is unified, which means that when you become a member of the Billings Education Association, you also become a member of our state affiliate, MFPE, and our two national affiliates, NEA and AFT.
Your Benefits and Rights as a Member
You are included on District-wide BEA communications and in building-level BEA meetings.
You have voting rights in the Association, which means you can vote on the BEA contract and elect BEA officers.
You can provide input regarding what you think should be negotiated upon when it comes time for negotiations.
You can serve on committees and run for any officer positions in the BEA, MFPE, NEA and AFT.
You are provided, at no additional cost, $1 million dollar professional liability insurance through NEA, to protect you from personal financial liability or lawsuits arising from educational employment activities and duties.
You receive NEA Complimentary Life Insurance, a free policy that provides: $50,000 of accidental death and dismemberment coverage while on the job or serving as an Association leader; up to $5,000 of accidental death and dismemberment coverage off the job; up to $1,000 of term life insurance; up to $150,000 of life insurance for unlawful homicide while on the job.
